Details on the Barbara Huntley Novice Downhill Skier Program

Who is Eligible for the Novice program?
In keeping with the wishes of Barbara
Huntley, the Program is only open to DOWNHILL skiers.
The NOVICE Program is open to novice skiers
on all official Miramar ski trips. A "novice" is
define as Levels 1,2 & 3 at ski schools using the 1 to 9 rating scale.
The IMPROVEMENT Program is open to
ALL SKIERS on four selected weekend ski trips.
Since it was Barbara's intention to help the club grow we are making this program available
to Miramar members and our adult guests. Associate members are not eligible
for this program.
How does the NOVICE Program work?
Eligible guests must first sign up for a Miramar BUS trip to our
lodge in Waitsfield VT and pay the standard Guest rate for this trip.
Then the novice must sign up for ski school lessons or for a ski package
at the selected ski resort at their regular prices. Some areas offer
Beginner packages including lessons, equipment rental and lift tickets at a
greatly reduced price.
Miramar will rebate up to $75.00 per day for each day the skier takes a novice
level lesson (Levels 1,2 or 3).
You will be required to complete a rebate form at the conclusion of the
weekend trip.
The rebate check will be mailed to you within a few weeks of the trip.
Will I receive other assistance?
Yes!! We will try to remove as much stress as possible from the
"first time" experience by assigning one of our club members as
your "Ski Mentor" for the trip.
Your Mentor will be available to answer any questions that you might have
about the club, the program, the mountains or the required paperwork.
In addition, your Ski Mentor will also direct you to the ski school, lift
ticket window and ski rental office (if necessary).
Anything else I should know??
In keeping with our club rules, Guests may only come on 3 bus trips before
they are required to submit a membership application.
Miramar Ski Club reserves the right to change the program without notice.
How does the IMPROVEMENT Program work?
Members and Guests at any skill level can take lessons and qualify for a
rebate from the Huntley Program on the
following weekends:
December 24 –27, 2009
January 8 – 10, 2010
February 26 – 28, 2010
March 5 – 7, 2010
ALSO... When a member's guest participates in the Huntley Novice Program
on any weekend trip, that member may also take lessons that weekend (at any
skill level).
Members who run the Nastar Racing Course at Sugarbush or Stowe on any bus
weekend will be reimbursed the entrance fee.
In all cases, keep your receipts and submit them with the reimbursement form
available from the trip leader. Intermediate and Advanced skiers are reimbursed
up to $50 for the lesson
